Awareness of oral hygiene has steadily increased over the past years. Technological advancements have made things much easier for the consumers; oral hygiene included.

The aim of people to have clean teeth has resulted in different products that are available in the market. Different kinds of toothbrush have been developed; one saying that it is better than the other because of the features it has on the brush’s head. Different mouthwashes have been developed, giving people different choices on the smell of their breath.

Various chemical products have been produced but some dentists say that the natural products are better. Below are some examples to help clean the teeth.

Eating certain types of food is known to help in keeping the teeth clean. Some las vegas dentists call these "detergent foods" because they aid in cleaning the teeth while being eaten. Apples are one of the best cleaners because they have juices that clean the teeth while being crispy enough to remove tough plaque. The property of other foods that are considered "detergent foods" is the firmness of the food when bitten. Raw carrots, celery and popcorn are some of the examples of these foods. Some dentists also suggest eating "detergent foods" after eating, if brushing is not possible.

Some people use the normal mouthwash to try and rinse out any dirt and stain on the teeth. Some are able to do the job but others contain alcohol that dries up the mouth, which makes it more susceptible to the development of bacteria. As an alternative, las vegas dentists suggest gargling apple cider vinegar in the morning. After gargling, commence with the regular brushing of the teeth. As stated above, apples are nature’s toothbrushes and the apple cider vinegar helps remove stains, whiten teeth, and kill bacteria that have been growing in the mouth.

Finally, a popular method used by people to whiten the teeth, brushing with baking soda at least once a week will help remove the stains in the teeth and make them look whiter. The application is the same with regular toothpaste, brushing on all the surfaces of the teeth. Some las vegas dentists also suggest that salt can be used as an alternative to toothpaste. The rigid edges of the salt help in scraping off the dirt in the mouth and clean the teeth. Just make sure not to ingest the salt so sodium intake is not increased. Brushing with salt every other day also helps in relieving gums that feel dry and raw.
